Tell us more about you.
I am a millennial mom of two very inquisitive kids. We have been residing in Kuils River for the past 5 years. I work in the HR IT field and I’m very passionate about developing and mentoring the youth and preparing them for the corporate world.
What inspired your choice to go to Dentico?
During my pregnancy I struggled a lot with my teeth due to low intake of calcium. It deteriorated so badly that I ended up with brittle, weak teeth chipping whenever I needed to eat.
A huge part of my career is spent on public and influential speaking, and struggling with my teeth really took a huge “knock” on my confidence.
I decided I needed to take control of the situation and seek help with a dentist, which made me extremely anxious since I always had terrible experiences with dental visits, especially during my childhood.
I made an appointment with another dentist who I found on Google, and yet again encountered a terrible experience. It was so bad that I left the surgery in so much pain. In fact, I spent four days just laying in bed knocking myself out with strong pain meds. This visit exhausted my medical aid funds and I found myself in a worse situation than before, which needed to be fixed immediately, because life and my duties as a mom needed to continue!
On Day 5, while browsing through Facebook, I came across Dr Hendricks on the Dentico Facebook page and saw all the positive reviews and patient stories. As a pedantic person, I did some research on her surgery and dentistry career, and was blown away by her journey. What won me over was her passion and drive to start up her own business to help her community (remember my passion for young talent). Her prices were affordable and I decided to inbox her surgery.
What was your first impression of the practice and staff?
I was answered by a friendly, calm and polite tone when I had received a phone call from her receptionist to confirm my appointment. Upon entering the surgery, I was welcomed by very friendly staff and immediately I was put at ease. Dr Hendricks was not judgemental at all, she was so friendly and knew exactly what to do. I felt as if I was speaking to a friend, who cared. And not the generic cold and strict dentist I was used to from my childhood.
The premises is beautiful and so clean, it felt like home. While waiting on my husband to fetch me, I felt so much at home that I actually took a work conference call in the waiting room!
What were your thoughts of your consultation?
The consultation was an amazing experience.
Dr Hendricks was so gentle that I fell asleep in the chair and can you believe it, I was actually having three root canals done! It felt as if I had made a spa booking as I was very relaxed throughout the process. I actually enjoyed the “me-time” away from my usual busy life.
How did the dentist handle your consultation?
Dr Hendricks gave very good advice and was open to me contacting her, should I experience any pain and needed immediate advice. That’s when I realised that she’s truly about giving the best care to her patients.
Will you bring your family to Dentico? Why?
I will definitely bring my family, and will recommend my friends and work colleagues. In fact, a few of my aunts and cousins have already visited Dentico.
After I updated my WhatsApp status to show off my new beautiful smile, my phone could not stop ringing. My older family always have the belief that older doctors are to be trusted based on their decades of experience, but I have now changed this way of thinking through my experience.
My kids will be going for their very first cleaning soon. As a mom, I trust Dr Hendricks and her staff completely, and I am confident that my kids will have a pleasant experience.
At Dentico, they will never have to fear the dentist, like I did as a child.
