Young Skylar May enjoyed a positive first visit to the dentist at Dentico, which has motivated her to take good care of her dental health at a young age.
At the age of five, Skylar was ready for her first visit to the dentist.
Her mom Janice May was admittedly nervous about this, knowing what an intimidating experience it can be for young children, but she was very relieved and delighted in the way the Dentico team handled her in the chair.
“I heard great things about Dentico, especially about the great work they’re doing in the Eerste River community and the way they treat young children. I decided to take Skylar to see Dr Hendricks,” explained Janice.
“Their entire team was very friendly upon arrival and Dr Hendricks managed the entire process very well. As a parent, you feel helpless looking on and hoping for the best, but I was very happy to see how Dr Hendricks communicated with Skylar. She knew exactly what was going to happen every step of the way, which made her very comfortable. In fact… she smiled throughout the treatment.”
Skylar enjoyed a cleaning and received a few fillings during two visits at Dentico.
Janice said the positive experiences at the dentist has seen her daughter become the family’s very own little tooth fairy in the house.
“After Skylar’s second visit, Dr Hendricks gave her a special gift. It was a toothbrush,” said Janice. “Skylar now has two toothbrushes – one for the morning and one for the evening. Before, we struggled to get to brush her teeth, but now she brushes two times a day without any hesitation. There are some days when she even wants to brush three times!
“I remember how dentists always gave lollipops to children, but the toothbrush is a great way to motivate kids to brush their teeth. It’s a clever initiative.”
Janice added that she’d definitely recommend Dentico to others, especially parents with young children.
“Dr Hendricks and her team are very professional. My family will visit Dentico should we need any future dental treatments,” said Janice. “As a parent, I’d definitely encourage other parents to take their kids to the Dentico too. It’s very important for young children to learn the importance of dental health from a young age. And they are motivated to do so after visiting Dr Hendricks.”
